1st Internal Meeting of JCM Joint Committee (Bangladesh Side)

 

The 1st Internal Meeting of JCM Joint Committee (Bangladesh Side) was held on 9th March, 2021. It was chaired by the JCM Joint Committee Co-Chair Mr. Md. Mizanul Hoque Chowdhury, Additional Secretary (Climate Change) Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC). As the committee (Bangladesh Side) was revised on 1st February 2021, this meeting was organized as an introductory meeting to share the JCM updates with the new members. All the JCM Secretariat members and the Joint Committee (Bangladesh Side) members attended the meeting except the member from FBCCI. Mr. Mirza Shawkat Ali, Director, Climate Change & Intl. Convention, DoE presented the status of the JCM projects, JCM activities and challenges regarding implementating the JCM projects in the context of Bnagladesh.

 

The 3rd Joint Committee Meeting on the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) between Bangladesh and Japan

Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Bangladesh and Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh jointly organized the 3rd Joint Committee Meeting on the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) between Bangladesh and Japan on 09 March 2016 in the city of Dhaka. The meeting was important for approval of many bilateral issues regarding JCM processes. 

 

 

A total of 26 participants joined the meeting. Apart from the Joint Committee members, members of JCM secretariat of both Dhaka and Tokyo along with some observers attended the meeting to make it a success. A number of bilateral issues were presented one after one by Co-chairs of both sides in the meeting for consensus and approval. Most of the bilateral issues were regarding JCM project cycle procedures, guidelines for developing project methodology, guidelines for developing project design document (PDD) and monitoring reports, guidelines for designation as a third party entity, and guidelines for validation and verification. The attendees of both sides reviewed each issue upon presentation and gave their valuable opinion. After substantial discussion, the meeting reached consensus on each issue. Besides, the meeting approved a draft methodology of centrifugal chiller.
