Completed projects:

(a) Establishment of energy efficient Centrifugal Chillers: The first JCM project in Bangladesh is between City Sugar Mills of City Group and Ebara Corporation of Japan. This project introduces two high-efficiency centrifugal chillers at City Sugar Mills. The estimated energy saving is 398.1 MWh/yearandGHG emission reductions will be 255 tCO2/year.

(b) Installation of energy efficient Solar-Diesel Hybrid System: This project introduces a hybrid solar-diesel power systemfromKyocera Corporation of Japan to a garment fastener manufacturing plant,YKK Bangladesh which currently uses captive diesel power generators.Normally, the share of a solar power generation to a capacity of a diesel generator is technically limited to about 20% because of the limitation caused by power-variation of photovoltaic module arrays. However, the fuel save controller used in this system enables the percentage to be raised up to 60%, achieving a greater reduction of fuel consumption by the diesel generators.Project’sestimated electricity generation will be 498 MWh/year and GHG emission reductions will be 265 tCO2/ year.

(c) Energy saving by installation of High-efficiency Loom at Weaving Factory: This project between Toyota Tsusho Corporationof Japan and Hamid Fabrics Limited of Bangladesh introduces air jet looms at a weaving factory.Compared to the conventional rapier looms, the air jet looms introduced in this project have 1.8 times higher productivity and 15% higher energy efficiency, which means approximately 53% energy efficient in terms of unit per area of fabric produced.The estimated energy saving will be 2,265 MWh/yearand GHG emission reductions will be 1,518 tCO2/ year.


(d) Installation of High Efficiency Centrifugal Chiller for Air Conditioning System in Clothing Tag Factory:This project between Ebara Corporation of Japan and NEXT Accessories Ltd. The project chiller applies two-stage compression with economizer and sub-cooler cycle. In addition, high efficient operation is achieved in wide range of cooling load by applying variable suction vanes to an impeller of the turbine. ExpectedGHG emission reductions will be 519 tCO2/ year.
